    • A reservation chart is a crucial document prepared by Indian Railways before the departure of a train. It lists the details of passengers who have confirmed reservations, including their seat or berth numbers, coach numbers, and other relevant information.
    • The chart is typically prepared around 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
  2. Understanding Chart Vacancy:

    • The term “chart vacancy” refers to the number of available seats after the reservation chart has been prepared.
    • It provides information about how many seats are still unoccupied or vacant on a particular train.
  3. How to Check Chart Vacancy:

    • To find out the available vacant seats, follow these steps:
      1. Visit the IRCTC website (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation).
      2. Look for the option called “Charts/Vacancy” (usually located above the “Book Ticket” section).
      3. Click on it to open the Reservation Chart section.
      4. In the first box, enter the Train Name or Train Number.
      5. Enter the Journey Date in the box below.
      6. Specify the Boarding Station.
      7. Click the “GET TRAIN CHART” option.
    • The resulting chart will display the vacant berth numberscoach numbers, and berth types for the selected train.
  4. Important Notes:

    • The chart vacancy information is available only four hours before the train’s departure.
    • Passengers can use this information to check if any seats are available for booking or if they can switch to a different class.
