Process to Find Out Lost or Stolen Smartphone:

  1. File a Police Complaint:

    • Before anything else, report the loss or theft to your local police. This step is crucial for legal purposes and helps establish a record of the incident.

    • The CEIR is a nationwide system that assists users in tracking and blocking lost smartphones. Here’s how you can utilize it:
      • Block Your Phone’s IMEI: Visit the CEIR website and fill out the form to block your lost or stolen mobile phone. You’ll need to provide details such as the mobile purchase invoice, police complaint number, and information about where you lost your phone.
      • Unblock Your Phone’s IMEI: If you find your lost/stolen phone, report to the local police that it’s found. After that, you can unblock the phone through the CEIR website or other means
  3. Call Your Phone Number:

    • Try calling your phone number from another phone. If someone answers, you might be able to retrieve it directly.
    • For Android users, use Find My Device to locate your phone on a map, lock it, or erase its data remotely.
    • iPhone users can use Find My iPhone even if the phone is powered down or not connected to the internet.
  4. Use Finder Apps:

    • Install a finder app like Apple’s “Find My” (for iPhones) or similar apps for Android. These apps allow you to track your phone’s location and play a loud alarm if it’s nearby
